Unified Security Framework
Nortel Unified Security Framework provides our customers with a framework for considering all aspects of network security—the people, processes and technologies. This layered approach to security combines strong policy management and enforcement, provides a choice of security solutions that are modular, flexible and scalable, and equips companies with the appropriate tools, policies and practices to effectively secure their networks.
- The People: A network security program must encompass the people using the network. Networks are the key to greater productivity, greater access to a broader selection of content, and a host of other benefits. However, the lack of security brings with it a lack of trust in the very networks that are used. With end-to-end security, users experience more value in their networks, resulting in greater use and a better user experience.
- The Processes: A network security program must encompass the processes that govern network use, typically administered through the security policies. Such policies would include employee policies regarding acceptable use of the network and updates to anti-virus protection, password strength and regular intervals for password changes, and rules governing the use of wireless LANs.
- The Technologies: Technology is used to enforce the end-to-end security, but is only as good as its weakest link. For technology to enforce the security, it must be multi-layer, intrinsic to the network, and properly implemented at each level. This implementation at each component of an IT infrastructure, including clients, applications, network and management systems, will incrementally enhance the security of the entire network.
