The 2008 U.S. Economic Stimulus Act
The Act allows for first-year bonus depreciation of 50% of gross equipment purchases that are placed into service prior to Dec. 31, 2008. The Act also allows taxpayers to deduct from their 2008 taxable income up to $250,000 worth of equipment purchases placed into service before December 31, 2008 (applies to companies who placed less than $1,050,000 of equipment into service in 2008). Combined with Nortel financing, you can enjoy 2008 tax breaks and delay payment on your equipment until 2009 or beyond.
