Point of Sale Reporting for Business Partners

What is POS?

Point of Sale (POS) information is an important part of our relationship with our Nortel business partners. The data provided by our partners describes the products and/or services sold and shipped to end-customer accounts as an authorized Business Partner.

POS data includes the partner's name and address, product codes (part numbers), quantities sold, ship dates, the vendor (Nortel or an authorized distributor) from which the product was obtained and the names and addresses of the companies to whom the partner sold and shipped Nortel products and services.

POS is an accepted means of reporting accurate and verifiable sales information to a manufacturer, a key requirement for calculating accurate and verifiable Partner benefits. For this reason, POS reporting is a requirement for participation in the Partner Support Plan.

Submitting compliant end-customer POS may entitle the partner to receive financial benefits such as:

  • Eligibility for special marketing funds
  • Rebates for exceptional revenue performance depending on your level of partnership

At Nortel, we use POS data to run our company more effectively. Your timely and accurate POS reports give us a better picture of the marketplace. With this understanding, we are better able to:

  • Define and develop new products
  • Optimize our manufacturing processes
  • Control product costs
  • Create promotional programs that ultimately help you sell for optimum profitability
  • Compensate our sales staff
