Developer Program Terminology Dictionary

Program Tiers of Membership

The Developer Program is a tiered program with two levels of differentiation:

Open Developer

Open Developers are the entry-level tier of the Developer Program. Open Developers may have commercially available products, products in development, or even products in the conceptual stage. Through program membership, companies gain access to world-class tools and resources designed to assist in the development of complementary solutions. These tools can include purchaseable and/or licensible toolkits, APIs, specifications, documentation and fee-based technical support.

Nortel Developer Partner

Developer Partner Logo Developer Partner is the second tier of membership in the Developer Program. Companies who successfully complete Compatibility Testing and are approved by Nortel based on defined Partner criteria can move from Open Developer to Developer Partner. In addition to the Open Developer membership benefits, Developer Partners may receive advanced product information and additional marketing opportunities.

Product Designations Available to Developer Program Members
Members may pursue compatibility/interoperability testing for their product(s) in order to earn Nortel awarded product designations:

  • Registered Product (designation only; no brandmark or certificate)
  • Nortel Compatible Product (brandmark and certificate)
  • Nortel Select Product (brandmark, certificate, and possible commercial relationship)

Registered Product
Developers may be invited to initially pursue less extensive interoperability testing than would be implemented through full Compatibility Testing. The Registered Product designation is designed to recognize third-party products that have demonstrated an initial level of interoperability in the Nortel laboratory environment* and are thus deemed registered with specified Nortel products. Third-party developers achieving this designation will receive acknowledgement of the interoperability and will be encouraged to complete testing to achieve Nortel Compatible Product status.

Nortel Compatible Product
Nortel Compatible Product Compatibility Testing by Nortel is designed to assist our customers in locating third-party products that have been verified by Nortel engineers in a controlled lab environment and deemed compatible with specified Nortel products. Nortel distributors/resellers may order some Compatible Products through Nortel.

Nortel Select Product
Nortel Select Product Strategically "selected" products from Developer Partners that are most highly recommended by Nortel and which provide enhanced, complementary value for Nortel customers. Nortel distributors/resellers may order some Select Products through Nortel.
