Registered Product configuration and testing notes for 3400/4400 Gateway Series by Mediatrix Telecom, Inc. with Communication Server 2000

This summary outlines a successful ”Registered” designation test event to validate very basic interoperability between Mediatrix’s 3400 & 4400 series BRI devices Version 1.1 and the Nortel CS2000 Release SN09U using the SIP protocol. The successful testing validation was completed May 9, 2008.

All test cases in this test plan were executed remotely by the customer using a remote access connection provided by Nortel. Testing includes basic communication and call functionality between the identified products. System and network integration of the products based on their individual network deployment requirements is the Service Provider’s responsibility.

Registered testing is a suite of test cases chosen to test basic interoperability between a Nortel communications platform and a Third Party device with a focus on the protocol messaging used between the two. The test cases are chosen to validate the proper use of the protocol in accordance with Nortel’s Interoperability Specifications.

Additional Test Cases Requested by Vendor:
- None

Not Executed Test Case Notes:
- Redundancy, carrier grade, and traffic or robustness scenarios were not tested as these fall outside the bounds of basic Interoperability testing.
- Voice quality will only be checked through audible means between parties.

Limitations, Restrictions and Other Observations:
Known issue with the 2102 device which cause conference call to fail. Issues are not seen on the 4404 or the 3431 units. This will affect Testcase#29, 31, 33. These testcases were executed with the callee making the conference on the 4404/3431 side.

All testcases passed as expected with the following notes:
- TC#: 5 Ringing Timeout 2.5 minutes.
- TC#6: Slow busy tone (10 seconds) followed by fast busy tone.
- TC#12: Set the display filter to rtp.p.type == 96 in order to see the out-of-band digits displayed.
There is a difference between the behavior of the 3431 and 4404 when it comes to OOB DTMF digits. (i.e. look at the ”end” and you see the number of DTMF Events displayed are not the same.

- TC#19: First line displays: Calling Number Display (919-992-9774)
Second line displays: Calling Name Delivery (SIPUSER 9774)

- TC#20: First line displays: Calling Number Display (- - - - - - - - - --)
Second line displays: Calling Name Delivery (Private Name)-

- TC#25: RTP Stream continues long after hanging up.
- TC#27: RTP Stream continues long after hanging up.
- TC#29: The callee has to be on Dgw 1.1. side.
- TC#31: The callee has to be on Dgw 1.1. side.
- TC#33: The callee has to be on Dgw 1.1. side.

- No other restrictions, limitations or observations noted.
