Registered Product configuration and testing notes for SmartNode Series with Application Server 5200 (fka MCS 5200)

The test effort verified a basic level of interoperability between the Patton Electronics - SmartNode 45xx Release R3.T, and Nortel’s Application Server 5200 (fka MCS 5200) Release MCS09. This successful testing establishes the Patton Electronics - SmartNode Series as a Nortel registered product for the releases tested. Testing included basic communication and basic call functionality between the devices. It is the service provider’s responsibility to perform appropriate system and network integration of the Patton Electronics SmartNode Series with the Application Server 5200 based on their network deployment requirements.

Test Exclusions:

- Redundancy, carrier grade, and traffic or robustness scenarios were not tested as these fall outside of basic interop testing.
- Voice quality was only checked through audible means between parties.

Limitations, Restrictions and Other Observations:

- SmartNode Series does not support conferencing, neither client-based nor network-based. 3WC/Conferencing test cases were not executed during this test event.

- SmartNode Series does not support the Decline feature. The Decline feature test case was not executed during this test event.

- SmartNode Series does support Consultative Call Transfer, but the SmartNode call flow differs from the reference call flows found in RFC draft-ietf-sip-cc-transfer-05. Issues with other Call Transfer scenarios may be found with further testing.

Nortel testing included:
Basic Communication using SIP
