Compatible Product configuration and testing notes for Last Mile Gateway LMG-441 by Wave7 Optics with Communication Server 2000


The test effort is considered a basic level of interoperability between the Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway LMG-441, release 4.1.0.73, and Nortel Communication Server 2000, SN08. This recognizes the Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway LMG-441 as a Nortel compatible product for the releases tested. The testing included basic communication and basic call functionality between the devices. It is the service provider’s responsibility to perform the appropriate system and network integration of the Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway LMG-44 with the CS 2000 based on their network deployment requirements.

Nortel testing included:

Basic GW to CS 2000 communication using MGCP protocol

   -Gateway provisioning and registration with Nortel CS 2000
   -Gateway response to Audits.
   -Gateway recovery after IP outage
   -Gateway recovery after power outage
   -Verification of registration MGCP protocol

Basic line to line voice/FAX/DTMF call functionality of the Wave7 Optics gateway using Nortel CS 2000 call control:

-Basic line to line voice calls intra Wave7 Optics gateway
   -call to idle line with answer
   -call to idle line, ringing timeout
   -call to busy line
   -call to busy line, busy tone timeout
   -call to busy line with call waiting
   -overnight duration call
   verify MGCP Protocol traces

Basic voice call functionality between Wave7 Optics line gateway and Nortel IP trunking GW(PVG) using Nortel CS 2000 call control.
-Basic voice calls between Wave7 Optics gateway and Nortel IP Trunk
   -call over trunk to idle line with answer (multiple codecs)
   -call to busy trunk
   -call to busy line

Wave7 Optics line gateway connection to announcement server (Media Server)
   -Three way conferencing with Wave7 Optics line gateway utilizing Media Server.
   -Wave7 Optics line gateway connection to Media Server for recorded announcements.

SDP negotiation between Wave7 Optics gateway endpoints.
   -LCO parameter handling, remote SDP handling.
   -SDP negotiation validation specific to SN08 Interop Specification associated with the above testcases.

RTP Packet Evaluation
   -RTP packets analyzed to ensure proper construction as requested by CS2000

Nortel did not test:

   -Voice quality (no MOS/PSQM validation).
   -Redundancy/Carrier Grade Maintenance
   -General MGCP protocol conformance outside that which is specific to SN08
   -G.729 Codec negotiation because the Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway LMG-441does not support G.729
   -20ms packetization rate for RTP stream because Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway LMG-441 does not support 20 ms packetization.
   -T.38 because Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway LMG-441 does not support T.38.
   -RFC2833 DTMF Relay Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway LMG-441 does not support RFC 2833 DTMF Relay. However, interworking with other devices that that may have RFC2833 enabled in their SDP was tested. The Wave 7 Optics Last Mile Gateway correctly removed RFC2833 from its SDP and RFC2833 was not negotiated.
