Enterprise Software Communication System (SCS) 500 Membership FAQ

List of Frequently Asked Questions about SCS500 Membership in the Developer Program:

Who can become an SCS500 member within the Developer Program?
Companies that develop complementary solutions, existing or planned, which connect to Nortel's innovative SCS500 platform through Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) are welcomed to apply for SCS500 membership. The Developer Program welcomes commercial companies seeking to create products for sale to mutual Nortel customers.

How do I become an SCS500 member?
All SCS500 members join the Developer Program at the level of Open Developer: Our enrollment process is quick and easy, with application on-line using our SCS500 Open Developer Enrollment form. After you have submitted your application to the Developer Program office, your application will be reviewed by Nortel. Please allow up to 10 business days for review of your application; you will be notified of the outcome of the review. Upon approval of the application, each company is presented with an SCS500 Membership Agreement for signature. The SCS500 Membership Agreement must be signed and returned, along with a credit card authorization form covering the membership fee. Upon activation, each member will receive an email confirmation of acceptance along with additional program details and documentation. Included in this communication will be an assigned User ID and Password for accessing an SCS500 Member Center section of the Developer Program website.

Will I have to sign a new SCS500 Membership Agreement every year?
The SCS500 Membership Agreement your company signs will remain in effect throughout your company's membership, and is automatically renewable. The agreement may be amended from time to time as your company pursues additional Registered Product designations or seeks Developer Partner status, or if there are Developer Program changes requiring a re-signing.

Are there different levels of SCS500 membership?
There are two levels of SCS500 membership for which you can apply: Open Developer and Developer Partner. All members must first apply at the Open Developer level.

What can I expect when I become an SCS500 Open Developer?

Testing is performed using a standard Nortel designed test plan and test results are submitted to Nortel for approval. Upon approval of the test results, the product is acknowledged as a Registered Product through a product listing on Nortel's website. Open Developers can pursue an unlimited number of Registered Product designations at no additional fee beyond the annual membership fee.

What toolkits are available for SCS500 developers?
As the Nortel SCS500 product is an open-source, SIP based platform, no toolkits are necessary for Enterprise SCS 500 developers.

Does the Developer Program offer a discount program for Lab Equipment to SCS500 developers?
Enterprise SCS500 members have access to an SCS500 interoperability testing website at no additional fee beyond the annual Developer Program membership fee. This site offers the most current, available version of the SCS500 product for developers' use in self-testing of existing solutions and new product developments. As such, the Development Equipment Purchase Equipment Program does not apply to Enterprise SCS500 members.

What technical information and technical support services are available for SCS500 developers?
Through the Enterprise SCS500 category of membership, developers are provided with access to an open interoperability testing website for use in testing new product developments at no additional fee beyond the annual membership fee. Due to the open-source nature of the SCS500 platform, members with this category of membership are encouraged to seek support from the SIPfoundry.org developer community.
