We understand that leadership talent is a key to achieving our future business objectives. We are committed to providing exceptional training and learning opportunities to mentor and develop potential leaders. One of these opportunities is our unique New Grad Leadership Program (NGLP).

An innovative approach to leadership development
The NGLP delivers accelerated learning and leadership skills development through focused business education, on-the-job experiential learning, self-assessment, coaching and mentoring. Through the NGLP, we take today's top graduates and turn them into tomorrow's top business leaders.

Your success is our success
The NGLP is available to qualified employees in most Nortel groups, including Research and Development, Information and Technology, Global Operations and Quality, Sales, Finance, Marketing and Human Resources. Each graduate accepted into the program has opportunities to work in a variety of jobs that enable them to discover the positions within Nortel they enjoy and at which they excel. Each six-month job rotation (approximately four in total) is complemented by Nortel and business-specific courses that further business and company acumen. An NGLP participant's rotations will primarily be in the business group into which he or she was hired; however, a participant might be selected, on an individual basis, to experience one rotation in another function. NGLP participants are also paired with mentors to further their development opportunities.

Primarily located in some of Nortel's major locations, which include Ottawa and Toronto in Canada, Richardson and Raleigh in the United States, Mexico City in Mexico, and Beijing in China, participants in the NGLP enjoy:

  • Exposure to, and direct learning from, some of Nortel's top business leaders
  • Accelerated business and departmental awareness through multiple, six-month job rotations
  • Focused and intense training that includes departmental, cross-business and corporate courses
  • Improved personal leadership through self-assessment, coaching and mentoring
  • An enhanced personal network through regional and global interactions with executives, managers, mentors and other NGLP participants
