Tell me about yourself and your experience at Nortel?
I am working as an Interoperation product verification engineer at the Wireline R&D Center of Nortel China. Third party interoperation testing for VOIP product is a key business driver for Nortel's next generation network market. This job brings me a very good vision of VOIP technology and rich experience in multimedia access products.

How did you end up working at Nortel? Why did you choose Nortel?
During my academic year, I had heard a lot of successful stories about Nortel and was yearning to find a job in Nortel.

After I received my Master's degree in Information Science from Beijing Normal University in the year of 2000, I was offered two opportunities, Nortel and a competitor. I chose Nortel without hesitation because Nortel stood for Top Technology in the telecom world.

What is most inspiring in your job?
Customers' driving from Nortel Core Values is the most inspiring motivation in my job. My team and I are very proud of the encouraging customer feedback after IOT product deployment for each Nortel Business.

What is it like to work at Nortel?
Nortel is a great place to work. The working environment provided by Nortel is more than just a place to work. People here are very friendly and supportive, showing strong team working spirits at any time and at any where.

Describe your relationship with management.
My immediate manager effectively communicates with me to ensure I meet project goals and achieve desired results. Generally, we can communicate directly with senior managers, directors or higher level management teams at general information sessions but the doors of management are always open for every staff at any time.

Nortel's Core Values are guidelines for my daily job. My job is to provide high quality 3rd party PV into Nortel solutions for customers' deployment. The team and I work together to ensure that every product works well into Succession Network. IOT job is a little bit different from general product verification activities as we need to work with 3rd parties and the Product Line Manager closely tok, ca define the product verification scope to meet the market requirements, and guide the 3rd party design team to fix the bugs by providing IOT specifications, solutions and our recommendation.

What kind of advantages, perks does Nortel offer you?
As a global company, Nortel utilizes hi-tech solutions to improve the working efficiency of employees. By using a wireless LAN, we could access the network at any place. VOIP meeting system enables us to join meetings over Internet at home or on a business trip. Multimedia Software provides a high quality video communication for remote employees. Uniform messaging allows us to listen to voicemail from email systems, and so on.

Do you have any recreation / leisure facilities at your site?
Nortel China provides several gyms near the company for us to exercise. There are many courses that we as employees can join including yoga, shaping dance, hi/low aerobics, etc.
