Tell me about yourself and your experience at Nortel?
I lead assigned projects with a goal of improving the design environment for hundreds of software designers. Helping designers and saving money for the company, having a positive impact on our products; helping other people grow and develop in their careers are some of the most inspiring parts of my job.

How did you end up working at Nortel?
I started with university co-op. Before I was finished my master degree, one of my previous managers offered me an interview and then a job. I started full-time a few months before I finished my master degree, initially working 37.5 hours in four days every week so I could spend the other weekday on the university campus as required while finishing the degree.

Have you had the opportunity to travel, work, or live in other cities or Countries?
My disability makes out-of-city travel somewhat difficult (requiring significant advance planning), so I select assignments accordingly and don't travel much. I did, however, recently go to New York to accept an award. I was one of 10 people given the 2004 Employee of the Year award by Careers & the disABLED magazine, having been nominated by Nortel.

Are their any flexible work solutions available to you?
Yes. I can work from home if necessary - I can log into our network from home. This is particularly necessary for me because getting into work off-hours on short notice is difficult given my mobility limitations.

What would you say to someone who would consider joining Nortel?
I'd say, "Don't come here looking for an easy or stress-free job, but if what you want is to work with great people and technology, join us!"
