Tell me about yourself and your experience at Nortel?
Lead Brazil Enterprise Operations organization in order to leverage to the business in Brazil. I am acting as a focal point for partners/customers by managing their requests, concerns and to help Nortel better understand their needs and delivery services that will meet their expectations. Also managing the performance of our partner in order to help Nortel improve customer loyalty and profitability.

What are your career aspirations?
My next step will be working in the strategic planning team. Due to my previous experience, being the interface with customers, I truly believe that I will be able to contribute significantly in this area.

Can you describe your relationship with your immediate manager?
This is one of the points I really enjoy with Nortel. Even though we have hierarchical structure the doors are open for anyone. You can express your ideas and send your comments to anybody in the company. You have the opportunity to participate in the company decisions in many aspects.

How did you end up working at Nortel?
During my Marketing specialization course I was invited by one of colleagues to be part of his team. He was building up the technical support organization in Brazil and was looking for someone to create the technical support for Nortel data products.

The challenge was create this structure from scratch defining organization, processes, hiring people, creating labs, training, and call center structure. The challenge really called my attention. At that time I was working on my own business as consultant (3-year experience). Also, I have already worked with this director in a former employer years before (Alcatel).

What it is like to work in a global company?
I really enjoy the diversity in our company and this is a normal consequence of a global company.

This a learning opportunity (not only in terms of business but also as an individual) where we are constantly dealing with different countries, cultures and people. I have already traveled to Canada, London, Raleigh and Florida for short period of time. I was also selected in a development program (Leadership Edge) which provided me with the opportunity to connect with other employees across the world. In my daily activities I also have to work with teams in Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa beside North America.

What would you say to someone who would consider joining Nortel?
I truly believe that Nortel is one of the exciting places to work. Here you will have a chance to grow and learn not only professionally but as an individual. You will be working with different teams, with different cultures and languages around the world.

You will get access to any technology we have in the telecommunication market. You will see the complete end-to-end solution meaning Enterprise, Wireline, Optical and Wireless solutions. You will understand what "innovations" means. And you will be part of this. Nortel is very open to provide all the information you need to develop your work.
