ISO 9001 & TL9000
Nortel's Quality Management System is registered to the globally recognized ISO 9001:2000 standard and the TL 9000 requirements and measurements.
ISO 9001 is the structural framework of a business system that specifies the necessary components of a quality management system. It was originally published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a worldwide federation of national standards bodies, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
TL 9000, developed by the
QuEST Forum* (Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications), defines the telecommunications quality system requirements and measurements for the design, development, production, delivery, installation and maintenance of products and services.
TL 9000 includes all of the elements of the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard, plus additional requirements to 'raise the bar' for hardware, software, and services suppliers. Examples of specific focus include software development and life-cycle management, specialized service functions such as installation and engineering, and continuing communication between telecommunications service providers and suppliers.
The TL 9000 measurement system provides a comprehensive, yet balanced set of measures and a system to track results against industry benchmarks. This system supports targeted product improvement and service quality initiatives, as well as streamlined documentation.
The scope of Nortel's ISO 9001:2000 and TL 9000 registrations include the design, manufacturing, service, and support of our networking products around the globe. Nortel has sites certified worldwide, which include all major manufacturing, engineering, and customer support organizations.
