Nortel Networks Enhances Voice, Messaging Solutions for Small Business, Branch Offices
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSX: NT] announced its latest offerings for small- to medium-sized businesses and branch offices, including new private networking and unified messaging capabilities for Norstar* communications systems. “We’re always looking for ways to help maximize our customers’ technology investments,” said Nick Pegley, vice president and general manager, Enterprise IP Services, Nortel Networks. “With these new products, we now offer our smaller customers more scaleable, cost-effective solutions to help drive optimum communications, which are key to businesses of all sizes.” Norstar 6.0 offers Norstar-to-Norstar private networking and core feature enhancements. With the ability to network up to 10 Norstar systems, customers can benefit from shared voice mail, auto attendant, and common dialing plans. These features allow smaller companies to operate like larger companies, and to present a unified front to customers. Additionally, by consolidating voice mail systems, customers can achieve significant cost savings. “Nortel Networks has taken a very innovative approach with Norstar by moving toward a more cost-effective solution offering very high powered networking capabilities, and consolidating and centralizing messaging,” said Jay Lassman, research director, Gartner, Inc. CallPilot* 100 is a cost-effective, next generation voice mail platform for Norstar customers who need up to 40 mailboxes. CallPilot 100 offers enhanced Web-based administration, increased storage, and basic call center functions, and is designed to help customers drive down total system cost by as much as 27 percent. The potential business benefits created by leveraging these messaging capabilities were previously available only to larger enterprises.
