Nortel Networks Succession Softswitch Awarded China Network Deployment Certification
Nortel Networks* has been awarded network deployment certification from China’s Ministry of Information Industry (MII) for its Succession* Communication Server 2000 – Compact (CS 2000 - Compact) solution, a full-featured, small-footprint softswitch designed for next generation, packet-switched networks. The first foreign telecommunications supplier to be awarded softswitch network deployment certification, Nortel Networks successfully demonstrated the Succession CS 2000 – Compact’s compliance to international standards and Chinese market specifications in MII tests conducted in June at the MII’s transmission product inspection center. “This certification is a significant milestone in Nortel Networks drive to develop the next generation network packetization market in China,” said Robert Mao, president and chief executive officer, Nortel Networks China. “We will continue to work closely with the Chinese government and the country’s service providers to develop and deploy leading-edge, fully-localized technologies that make a significant contribution to the growth of China’s telecommunications and information industries.” Nortel Networks Succession CS 2000 – Compact softswitch enables service providers to deliver the full suite of traditional voice services and advanced multimedia services to business and residential customers on a packetized network, with voice and data traffic sharing the same communications lines to provide more efficient and cost-effective use of existing transmission capacity.
