Nortel in Pakistan

Nortel Pakistan is a recognized leader in delivering communications capabilities that enhance the human experience, ignite and power global commerce, and secure and protect the nation's most critical information.

Nortel's active participation in the evolution of Pakistan's telecommunications infrastructure began in 2000 when the company was awarded a major turnkey project to supply a GSM 900 digital cellular network to Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), a newly formed subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL). The following year, Nortel was selected to build a GSM 900 infrastructure for Ufone, the country's first Pakistani-owned wireless network and another PTCL subsidiary. Prior to this, Nortel had been operating in Pakistan's enterprise market since 1990 through a local distributor.

Today, Nortel operates from dedicated offices in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi building on its growing presence to help a wide range of carrier, service provider and enterprise customers leverage advanced communications technologies to drive economic growth.

In Pakistan and around the world, Nortel's business units are aligned into two main categories: Carrier Networks (incorporating Wireless Networks, Wireline Networks and Optical Networks) and Enterprise Networks.
