During the boot sequence the CPU on these cards locks up because of software access to an invalid memory address. This lockup is caused by the fact that the early part of the boot code tries to access jumperInfoSegment. In the absence of this segment it lands in memory address at offset 0x0. This memory address after a powercycle has invalid data which when de-referenced by software causes a CPU lockup i.e. parity error bus-error, pci-error or some other type of error. Solution: If the cards are pre-programmed with jumperInfoSegment then the software will terminate gracefully as it would find the segment in its search thereby avoid going into the address space at 0x0. Therefore, this patch will create segment 12(jumperInfoSegment) on all PPC cards. In this scenario, the CPU Utilization can rise to 100% and all TCP sessions including connectivity to the switch through the oamenet port can be lost. The retry was eliminating all trunks to the far Passport instead of just the one trunk to the Passport that caused the crankback. The PORS crankback mechanism now eliminates only one trunk. This version removes some additional debugging statements that were added as part of patch ip7T1110A. Both patches also address the following issue: under certain conditions, a BGP peer does not send keepalive messages resulting in the peer dropping once the hold timer expires. The keepalive message was not sent because the keepalive timer was being reset when the update timer expired. Since the keepalive timer is also reset when an update message is sent, it is not necessary to reset it when the update timer expires so this reset is removed by these patches. Patch CR : Q01109924-02 Dependencies: ------------ In order to apply this patch, the Multiservice Switch node must be running release CF01S1E (PCR6.1.1) with the latest patch baseline posted on www.nortel.com.
