Pavi Binning

Pavi Binning is executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for Nortel.
As CFO, Binning is advancing Nortel's finance transformation to the next level, further enabling the Company to compete and win in the market.
With more than 25 years experience of financial experience, Binning is a proven leader with extensive expertise in operational execution and a track record of excellence. Most recently, he was Group Finance Director (CFO) and a Board member at UK-based Hanson PLC, one of the world's largest suppliers of heavy building materials to the construction industry. While at Hanson, he was responsible for leading the Hanson finance function including Group Finance, Treasury, Tax, Investor Relations, Risk Management, Internal Audit and Operational and Regional finance organisations. He also had responsibility for the Corporate Communications, IT and Strategy functions.
Prior to this role, Binning was CFO as well as a member of the Board and Executive Committee of Marconi Corporation PLC, a UK telecoms equipment vendor which was acquired by Swedish-based Ericsson. While at Marconi, he was responsible for building a strong financial function, as well as working with the Chief Executive Officer on creating strategic and operational improvements and executing a corporate turnaround. During his tenure the company became a profitable, cash-flow positive business. His responsibilities at Marconi included: Group Finance, Investor Relations, Tax, Treasury, Group Strategy, Risk Management, Internal Audit and Operational and Regional finance functions.
Binning spent the majority of his career at Diageo PLC, a leading, global consumer goods business that owns premium drink brands such as Smirnoff, Johnny Walker, Guinness and Bailey's. His positions at Diageo included senior corporate and operational finance roles such as Corporate Finance Director, Group Financial Controller, CFO Europe, CFO Americas and Head of FP&A. Before Diageo, Binning worked for Solex Plc and Electrolux Ltd.
Binning is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK. He is based at Nortel's global headquarters in Toronto, Canada.
