Energy Use of Products
Energy Efficiency of Products
Nortel recognizes that energy efficiency is an important requirement for our products. Over the years,
Nortel designers have significantly increased the energy efficiency of our products by applying new
architectures and power dense designs, as well as advanced component and printed circuit board
technologies.
Reduced Energy Consumption and Environmental Impacts
The energy use of our products directly affects customer energy requirements and the associated
environmental impacts of energy production. By Nortel designing and manufacturing products that are
energy efficient, we are directly decreasing customer energy requirements and the associated
environmental impacts as well as contributing to added customer value.
AEPT/ NIST
Nortel currently participates in Advanced Embedded Passives Technology Consortium (AEPT) funded by the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Advanced Technology Program. Part of the
consortium's mandate is to "meet the need of the microelectronics industry for denser higher
performance products with proven embedded passives technology". With the implementation of these
and other new developments in technology, the industry will be able to increase board density and
reduce product footprint while maintaining the power efficiency of the product.
